Whilst working on 'The Dress', 2019, which will be shown in the DOCKED Exhibition from 30th March 2019 - 3rd April 2019, and the Art House Summer Show from 2nd July 2019 - 7th August 2019, I was shocked to find out the total number of rapes that took place over the recent years. It is a major growing issue and Southampton has one of the highest rates compared to similar categorised cities. I proceeded to do my research whilst working on this topic and felt the urgent need to give back. Through my work I wish to promote change and education and with an issue like this I wish to raise the point yet help the people that are there for survivors and dealing with this violent act and any sexual abuse. Yellow Door is a local charity situated in Southampton. This wonderful organisation help survivors, educate people on sexual assault and surrounding issues, provide counselling and support and even have a helpline. They heavily rely on donations to support their charity and through seeing the amazing work they do I wish to create a fundraiser for them.
