This piece looks at the issue of rape within Southampton as it is an increasing problem. The carefully hand sewn dates on the front and back of the dress presents the information we see in the public eye, dates taken from the Daily Echo. The label then contrasts this and shows the crime data of rapes taken place in the same time scale.

 

Between 1st January 2018 - 28th February 2019, there were 7 recorded reports featured in the Daily Echo about rape and sexual assault, however there were in fact 523* cases shown in the police crime data.

*please note this is only crime date - this excludes cases that haven't been followed up and many that have not been reported.
